Photo: Largest Squid Ever Caught Is "Giant, Gelatinous Blob"

Fishers haul up an accidentally caught colossal squid off Antarctica on February 22, 2007. The biggest squid ever caught, the giant female was dissected at a New Zealand museum in April 2008.

In August 2008 a scientist involved in the examination announced that the squid was far from a sea monster, but rather a lethargic "blob" filled with "many, many thousands of eggs."
